Wildcat Volleyball 2009

The Woodside Volleyball LadyCats are on the prowl and looking to repeat as Peninsula Athletic League (PAL) Champions. With six seniors on a roster of twelve the veterans would like to make a push for a CCS (Central Coast Section) Championship as well. The team will be led by seniors: Angela Alftin, team captain; Lauren Evanoff, starting setter; Lisa Rosati, starting middle blocker; Gianni Fraone, starting libero (defensive specialist); and Kelly Thurlow, starting outside hitter. Another starter in the mix is junior, Mia Pomi. Mia is an outstanding attacker on the right side of the net that also provides a wall for the opponent's outside hitter to hit around. The return of sesior setter, Kandace Weber, after taking a year off along with some bright young stars figures to make this a promising season. The younger players on the team include sophomore standout, Lupe Kaufusi, who figures to get a lot of playing time in the middle blocker position. Alena Giraudo and Allie Medina are also promising prospects at the outside hitter and libero position respectively that should see plenty of court time as sophomores. Katherine Ruiz is a junior who has shown great ability to attack and block at the net. Lastly, we have a freshman that made the varsity squad this year in Sydney Hickman. Sydney will provide strength to our outside hitter and opposite positions.

Be sure to mark your calendars for this year's action. Our toughest competition figures to be Aragon and Burlingame within the league. We will begin our home schedule with back to back matches on September 8th and 9th against Valley Christian and Soquel. Hope to see you there!

If you wish to contact head coach, Brian Thomason, please feel free to send an e-mail to: bthomason@seq.org; or phone: (650) 346-7731.

Thanks for your support!
