Athletics: Co-Ed Cheerleading
Co-ed Cheerleading

Woodside Cheerleading is a co-ed, competitive program that is involved in many aspects of the Woodside community. We cheer at football games, basketball games, and various other sporting events.

In addition to school support we also compete at multiple competitions throughout the season. We incorporate gymnastics, cheers, dancing, and stunts to engage the crowd and show support both for the school and for our program.

Our season starts with tryouts in late April. We hold optional practices through our spring season. During the summer we have a required camp where we prepare and practice competition choreography. Tryouts start in April and we compete through March. It is a very long season, and students are awarded 5 credits for full participation.

The cheerleaders at Woodside High School are a prominent face at all Woodside High School events, consistently showing their support at athletic events, school events, and other activities with charm, enthusiasm, and spirit.

Tryout Requirements

Tryout Requirements

-------------------

There are no specific tryout requirements. We will fill up a Varsity team of no more than 25 people or create a JV and a varsity team if we have enough participants. During the tryout process you will be taught a dance, a cheer and some basic skills. You will be required to perform those skills in front of the judges. The entire process of learning the material through the end evaluation will be used to consider your placement on the team.

Stunting will be taught only if material is sufficiently learned. While basic gymnastics might be taught at tryouts, advanced gymnastics will need to be learnt outside of tryouts. A spot will be available if required.

We will also be looking at attitude and spirit throughout the three days. To be a good cheerleader you need a positive attitude and a ton of spirit!
