Friends of Millard Fillmore Club "Millard Fillmore" is a club that competes in a local area annual trivia hunt. This hunt usually consists of teams from about ten local schools, both private and public. The hunt was created by retired Carlmont teacher Bob Hunter to teach students research skills in a fun and competitive way. It has been taking place every February for the last 31 years. Check out some photos and newspaper memorabilia from previous years hunts Here's how it works: at 3:30 pm on a Friday, teams all meet at Carlmont High School. Many teams dress up in costumes or matching hats for the event. This event is known as "THE CAKE" because a mini trivia quiz is held and Millard Fillmore's birthday cake is given to the winning team. At this time all the hunt questions are read and explained. A visit from former president Fillmore and sometimes his wife is usually part of the evening. The packets of questions are distributed and students RUN off to answer as many of them as they can with double bibliographic documentation before they are due to be turned in Sunday evening. For every minute a team is late in turning in their questions, they are docked points. On Monday at 3:30 all teams meet again at Carlmont High School for "Adjudication" where "readers" and "lawyers" from each school debate the answers.

Do you want to join the team??? There are a lot of jobs to be done aside from searching for answers, there are food organizers, publicity crews, typists, etc. The next hunt will be Feb. 4th, 2000. Go to the WHS library and join the team!!!

More questions??? Ask an advisor. They are Mrs. Kolber, Ms. Vasquez and Amber Aguirre.

Here are some pictures of past hunts.
