Goals: Homeroom/Advisory
-
Send initial survey to students, parents and
staff to get a general feeling about a Homeroom/Advisory period. The
survey will be simple and based on our recommendations.
-
Create a list of benefits and pitfalls of implementing
a Homeroom/Advisory period based on input from the surveys and
other documented resources.
-
Develop a proposal for the structure of a homeroom/advisory
period that we think could be successful at Woodside High School.
This includes necessary modifications to the bell schedule.
-
Discuss potential solutions to accommodate part-time
staff and contractual staff.
Goals: Same Page (Consistent Practices)
-
Tardies - Need for clarification and a need to handle
consistently. There was also recognition that this is an active
issue concern matter at SDMC.
-
Other Schoolwide Important Priority Items Mentioned - Use or
non-use of cell phones and IPODs, food, dress, late work policy,
appropriate language, use of Communicado, ESLR assignment and Sustained
Silent reading.
-
Teacher/Student Standards - Are there and/or should there be
different standards for student and teachers? Cell phone use and
food in classroom came up as specific examples.
-
On demand writing for finals and summer reading came up as examples
of consistent practices in English and Social Studies, as did
content standards. However, we generally felt that these items
might be handled in another task force or were more the purview
of a department.

alternative arrangements for a seventh period, including staffing
arrangements, mandatory tutoring in lieu of core academic classes
(to be determined), and/or any other means by which a more
effective learning environment can be created.
