What is Girls Embracing Life (GEL)?

GEL is a FREE group for young women who want a healthier and more active lifestyle.

What do we TALK ABOUT: Nutrition, exercise, women's health, stress, self-esteem...just to name a few.

What do WE DO: Many different activities like yoga, dance, walk, play basketball...anything that provides us with energy. We also learn how to prepare healthy meals and provide gifts to help keep you healthy.

Who can join? ALL Woodside girls can join GEL!

WHERE and WHEN do we meet: We meet on Tuesday after school from 3:15-4:45pm.

Week One: Introduction to Group

Day 1: Intro, Let's get to know one another!

Day 2: Small Changes/Importance of water

Week Two: Relationship between Exercise and Health

Day 1: Why is physical activity so important?

Day 2: The importance of eating and the danger of diets.

February 18th

Week Three: Nutrition education/Nourishment

Day 1: What your body needs. Nutrition & Food Demonstration.

February 23rd & 25th

Week Four: Continue of Nutrition. Social and Cultural Influences

Day 1: *Guest Speaker: Madoka from 2nd Harvest Food Bank

Day 2: Personal & cultural influences about Health: (magazines, peers and family)
