TASK FORCES 2006-2007

 

Task Force 1: Wellness meets in room D-7
Objective: To support the implementation of the Wellness Policy.

This task force will look at ways to improve student health and performance. Objectives
include student education about sleep, nutrition, and exercise, as well as staff stress
reduction.

Task Force 2: Bell Schedule meets in room B-5
Objective: To evaluate the current bell schedule.

This task force will investigate other possible configurations to better meet our teaching and staffing needs.

Task Force 3: GATE meets in room A-6
Objective: To evaluate the current GATE programs – AS, honors, AP

This task force will consider such issues as the effectiveness of our placement process, the effectiveness of summer assignments, and student support.

Task Force 4: School Climate meets in room E-18
Objective: To create an atmosphere of respect and safety in our multicultural school.

This task force will develop ways in which we can foster a positive, safe environment for learning and interacting on our campus. The goals of theKLEAR program, as well as activities that educate staff, students and parents about these issues will be addressed.

Task Force 5: “The Greenies” meets in room G-2
Objective: To coordinate a recycling program and explore ways to reduce the
environmental impact of the school.

This task force will educate students about environmentally sound practices while
creating a full scale recycling effort.

Task Force 6: Emergency Action Plan meets in room C-9
Objective: To re-evaluate our emergency action plan and update it.

This task force will address the goal of keeping our students safe during an emergency. It will review current plans and devise specific strategies such as escape routes and evacuation sites.

Task Force 7: Learning Environments meets in room C-12
Objective: To improve student performance, attendance, and connection to the Woodside High School community.

This task force will explore ways to incorporate greater personalization and smaller learning environments.

Task Force 8: Teaching and Learning Progress Report meets in room E-9
Objective: To improve student academic performance and progress.

This task force will monitor and evaluate school programs and practices.

Task forces meet the following Wednesdays from 8:00-8:40 AM: 10/18, 11/15, 1/24, 2/21, 3/21, 4/25, 5/16. Please contact Wendy Porter, Shared Decision Making Council Facilitator, if you are interested in joining a task force.
