e Woodside High School Business Technology Academy is a school within a school. The Academy is a smaller learning community made up of dedicated teachers working collaboratively. The core subjects taught within the Business Academy include: Math, Social Studies, English and various CTE courses including Intro to Computer Applications and Web Design & Development. As a California Partnership Academy, our academy falls under the Business Technology Career Pathway, with an emphasis on Information Technology. Each year also has a focus. During sophomore year, students are encouraged to develop their computer application skills, for example Word, Excel and PowerPoint in their English, Math, Intro to Computer Applications, and Social Studies classes while exploring post-secondary options. The junior year is focused on career and college research in collaboration with mentors and learning how to use Photoshop, Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver in Web Design & Development. Students continue to advance in their four core subject areas and emphasize research skills along with advanced web design. The senior year in the academy is focused on advanced web design and completion of the Senior Thesis.
Our academy has various Articulation Agreements in place with the local community colleges that allow students to earn college credit for their CTE courses, which are transferable to four year colleges. In addition to the all-school graduation on Bradley Field each year, Academy students also participate in a more intimate ceremony in the PAC where they are personally recognized for their accomplishments and awards are presented. We have been lucky enough to also have the pleasure of presenting the Edward F. and Vera Z. Harris college scholarship to a small handful of deserving graduates.
