Woodside High School 8th Grade Virtual Shadowing Program

Thank you for your interest in the 8th Grade Virtual Shadowing Program. We look forward to giving you a glimpse of a day in the life of Woodside High School student. Enjoy the vibrant campus, rich in activities and opportunities to grow. Get a feel for the springboard to such universities as Cal Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford, MIT, NYU, and others. Woodside High School offers a rigorous academic program geared towards the completion of the UC/CSU A--G Requirements and a solid preparation for the next level of scholarship and disciplinary study.

We understand that students have a choice. We encourage you to give Woodside High School strong consideration. We are confident that our comprehensive high school experience, comprised of clubs, competitive athletic teams, leadership organizations, spirit rallies, field trips, work-experience opportunities, and mentorships, offers all students a unique opportunity to express their individuality, creativity, and spirit. Programs such as the School Ambassador Program, Kids Learning Empathy and Respect (KLEAR), and Students Offering Support (SOS) strive to foster an environment in which all students feel welcome to express themselves and in which all students respect one another.

8th Grade Virtual Shadowing will take place between October thru early February of the school year. This shadow program is designed for 8th grade students, including transfer students, who are interested in attending Woodside High School. The 8th grade virtual shadow program is run through the leadership class and the students in leadership are the shadow leaders. Woodside no longer takes individual requests for specific shadow leaders.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people; we are sure that you will find Woodside students to be friendly, welcoming, and fun.

Virtual Shadow Overview

Due to social distancing, the Woodside High School shadow program will be done virtually. The virtual experience will include a welcome as a group with the shadow coordinator along with an informative video about Woodside High School. Following the video, shadow students will be placed in breakout rooms with other shadows and a leadership student. The leadership student will converse with the interested students about their own experience at Woodside High School as well as answer questions students may have about the school. Finally, the group will come back together for any final questions. This whole experience will be approximately one hour. This meeting will begin promptly at 3:30 pm with the zoom link opening prior. Students will be emailed the zoom link for the meeting in advance. Shadows who are participating are asked to be in an area with minimal distractions in the background and to have their video on during small group interactions.
