Welcome to the 2020 WHS Track and Field Season!
Parent Meeting Feb. 13th in the Main Library 6-7 pm.
All parents should attend this meeting.  Fundraising objectives will be covered for the season and further details about the program will be shared by the Coaches.
New this year, we have a Main team and a Development team.
IMPORTANT: All athletes that have been in the Track and Field program before must contact me, Head Coach Chris Pedrin, prior to Feb. 3rd to find out their status if they have not already been contacted by me.  Please call or text me at 415-730-1569 or email
No athlete will be able to start practices until all Medical or Academic holds have been cleared through Sportsnet.  Please contact Tim Faulkner, Athletic Director, at if you have any questions.
First practice for freshman and new applicants for the Track and Field team must report to the Track on Feb. 3rd at 3:30 pm, ready for practice.  The week of Feb. 3rd will be dedicated to assessment of athletes.
Assessments for new athletes and returning athletes not yet on the Main team, will take 3 days to complete.  On the fourth day, athletes will be assigned to either the Main team or the Development team. By Feb. 7th all athletes will find out their status.
If an athlete is assigned to the Developmental team, they will report to Coach Peterson and may, upon approval of Coach Peterson, get the opportunity to try for the Main team after a two week period.  The two week period of conditioning must be completed with no absences.
If an athlete does not meet the conditioning standard during the first two week period, they may continue to train with Coach Peterson.  The last chance an athlete may move from the Development team to the Main Team is the day before the first practice meet with Sequoia High School on March 6th.
Athletes entering the Track and Field program from another sport, but who have been pre-selected for the Main team, must be ready to begin workouts immediately.  Athletes from another sport without any previous experience in Woodside Track and Field must participate in a full day of assessment.
All athletes on the Main Team will be required to participate in 3 events at every league meet, and be available to participate in a fourth if called upon.  More details on expectations will be covered on Feb. 7th when all team members will be together for their first practice together.
All Main team athletes will be required to attend every weekend Invitational they are invited to and all five league meets.  If an athlete misses one league meet, they will be cut from the team.
Practices are M-F 3:30 - 5:30 pm.  No athlete may leave before 5:30 pm unless approved by the Head Coach.  Leaving early may result in being sent to the Development team or being cut from the sport. Cuts from the team will also be given for reasons of non-participation, lewd or insubordinate behavior, lack of effort, unsportsmanlike conduct or any action causing a detrimental effect to the team.
Parent Volunteers.  Parents are needed as volunteers to help with all Home League meets.  (Mar. 6th, April 22nd and April 29th) The full season schedule is below.  A sign-up genius will go out asking for volunteers prior to the pre-season opening meet against Sequoia.
Woodside Vs. Sequoia Meet Mar. 6th.  Our pre-season opener is an evening meet against Sequoia.  We will need parent volunteers to help with concessions, field events and the finish line.  Field events for Frosh/ Soph will start at 4 pm and running events will begin at 5 pm. This will be a fun, exciting Dual Meet under the lights....Come out and cheer on the Wildcats!!
We look forward to a great season working with your athletes in WHS Track and Field!
