Coach Meacham has coached extensively since graduating from high school. He coached Varsity Skill Development clinics for the AAU in the summer, coached the Los Altos 8th grade team, and then was the Team Manager and a walk-on player at Santa Clara University where he graduated with a degree in Finance. He has coached at WHS for the past 10 years at both the JV and Varsity levels. Coach Meacham says, “I went to East Side College Prep High School, where we won CCS and went to State in the semi-finals. After that, I went on to play at Santa Clara University for two years. I am glad for that foundation that has brought me to coaching at WHS today. I love coaching and seeing kids grow in confidence, watching them grow to a higher level. The best part about coaching is the mentoring, seeing kids become men and the life lessons that they learn as part of playing the sport.” Coach Meacham is committed to making the WHS Basketball program great.

Coach Gonzalez graduated from San Diego State University with his B.S. in Kinesiology. He graduated from CSU, Chico with his Teaching Credential and a Masters degree in Kinesiology. He Has been teaching and Coaching for over twenty years and is passionate about helping young people find their full potential. Mr. Gonzalez has taught P.E., Health, Weight Training, Dance, and Sports Specific Training. He has coached Football, Basketball, and Track at the Varsity levels. He has also been a personal trainer, athletic trainer, and self awareness coach.

Eli Thornton (Boys JV Head Basketball Coach)

Coach Eli Thornton earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication from Southern Oregon University followed by a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Counseling from Azusa Pacific University. He has worked 10 years in Education, 4 years at San Joaquin Valley College and 6 years at the high school level. Coach Thornton is entering his sixth year as a School Counselor, his fourth at Woodside High School. Coach Thornton was a standout high school player at Victor Valley High School where he was a 3-year varsity starter, won 1st team All-Area, and 2nd team All-CIF honors. He continued his basketball career at Victor Valley Community College for two seasons. His success earned him an athletic scholarship to Southern Oregon University where he was a starting guard for the final two seasons of his collegiate career. After graduating, he later joined his alma mater, Victor Valley High School, where he worked his way up from the Freshmen Assistant Coach to eventually earning the Head Varsity Coaching position for two seasons. He has also coached one season as an Assistant Coach for the Victor Valley College Women’s Team. In addition, Coach Thornton has coached at the AAU level, and served as a skills trainer where he has trained youth in the community and several college athletes. Coach Thornton is married to Rosyli Reveron-Thornton and they have two dogs named Cassie and Lady.
