WHS Administration



Principal


The principal oversees all operations of the school and leads the administrative team comprised of the Instructional Vice Principal and the two Administrative Vice Principals.  The principal represents the school and its interests at the district's Principals' Council meetings and SUHSD Board of Trustees meetings.

David Reilly taught at Woodside High School for eight years before becoming the Administrative Vice Principal at Sequoia High School from August 2005 until December 2007.  In January 2008, Mr. Reilly returned to Woodside High School to serve as principal.  

Mr. Reilly is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). 



Instructional Vice Principal


The Instructional Vice Principal (IVP) oversees the instructional programs of Woodside High School.  She develops the Master Schedule, facilitates the hiring of teachers and instructional associates, and works with the Guidance Department in regards to class selection, scheduling, and graduation requirements.  The IVP also leads the department chairs and facilitates Department Chair meetings.

 

Diane Mazzei has been at Woodside High School for over fifteen years.  She has taught in the Science Department and has served the school as Student Activities Director.  As a teacher, she also served the school as the Data Team Coordinator and the Site Plan Coordinator. 



Administrative Vice Principal, 9th-grade, Support Services


Maureen Campbell is responsible for connecting tenth-grade students with the support and interventions necessary to become responsible and successful high school students. She oversees support services including the Students Offering Support (SOS) peer programs: Freshman Transition, conflict mediation, Kids Learning Empathy and Respect (KLEAR), Safe School Ambassadors, the College and Career Center, work experience, Mental Health Counseling Intern program, Girls Embracing Life, and Businesses United in Investing, Lending and Development (BUILD). She also works with the Instructional Vice Principal to provide assistance to the Guidance and Special Education departments.

While Maureen is new to administration, she is a twenty-six year veteran of Woodside High with experience as school psychologist, special education resource teacher, co-creator of SOS programs, and most recently head guidance counselor. She is co-author and publisher of two books related to freshman transition and conflict mediation peer programs. She has earned numerous awards and trained school staffs throughout the state on the power of peer involvement with youth. Maureen holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Psychology.



Administrative Vice Principal, 10th-grade, Athletics


Alvaro Calderon works with the ninth-graders; he oversees and enforces disciplinary consequences for all students on his case load. He works in collaboration with campus security to ensure the safety of all students. Mr. Calderon also supervises: athletics, attendance office, food services, emergency procedures and the health office.

Mr. Calderon, the newest member to our administrative team and a Sequoia High School Alum, is coming to us from Los Gatos High School in the Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District where he was an Assistant Principal for three years. Prior to Los Gatos, Mr. Calderon worked at San Jose High Academy in a variety of different roles including: counselor, SST coordinator, girl’s soccer coach and Assistant Principal.

Born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico until the age of 11 he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Sociology with a concentration in Criminology from San Jose State University. He also holds a Master’s degree in Counselor Education. During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Calderon played on the Men’s soccer team which was ranked #1 in the nation in the year 2000.



Administrative Vice Principal, 11th-& 12


Mr. Brumbaugh works with the eleventh and twelfth grades, and he also supervises the plant manager and manages Facilities. He oversees the disciplinary actions for the students on his case load, and he works with the Campus Security Team to ensure a safe learning environment. Mr. Brumbaugh also supervises: the Autism Program, CTE, the Master Calendar, ROP, Technology, and Work Experience.

Mr. Brumbaugh comes to us from Capuchino High School in the San Mateo High School District. He has spent over twenty years as an educator in a variety of different roles, including: teaching academic classes for all levels of students (including Advanced Placement), coaching both boys and girls athletic teams, and serving as a school and district technology coordinator. He has also developed several courses of study and a new academic discipline.

Mr. Brumbaugh holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from San Francisco State University and a Master’s Degree in Athletics Administration from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA.
